Biography

Deborah A. Bloom was born in Springfield, Massachusetts in 1955. She was awarded a B.A. from the University of Vermont (1977) and a J.D. from Western New England College School of Law (1980), and was admitted to the practice of law in Massachusetts in 1980. Attorney Bloom joined Keyes and Donnellan, P.C. in 1980, served as Managing Partner of the firm from 1990-1997, and currently serves as President of the corporation. Practice emphasis is on representing injured plaintiffs in products liability claims, automobile accidents and motorcycle accidents, as well as premises liability injuries. She also represents insurance companies in the defense of personal injury claims, handling over 500 arbitration and mediation claims to successful resolution for her clients.

  • $1,050,000 Settlement

    $1,050,000 Settlement

    A 40-year-old man was severely injured in a head-on motor vehicle collision while operating his motor vehicle westbound on the Mass Pike near the Palmer exit. The client suffered significant internal injuries to the spleen, requiring emergency surgery. The client also suffered fractures of his hip, elbow, and knee with permanent impairments.  Client was determined to be totally and permanently disabled as a result of the accident caused by a drunk driver.  A successful claim was brought against a liquor establishment believed to have over-served the driver of the at-fault automobile. The at-fault driver’s policy limits of $50,000 were also successfully recovered, and a structured settlement was set up to guarantee the permanently injured man with lifetime income.

    A 60-year-old woman suffered a torn meniscus as a result of a collision caused by the negligent operation of a commercial dump truck.  Following knee surgery, the plaintiff was left with on going knee pain.

    A 10-year-old boy suffered an injury to his eye as a result of an airbag explosion following a collision.  The minor claimant was a front seat passenger in his mother’s van when their vehicle was hit head-on on a public roadway.  The injury to the minor’s eye (iris) did not cause any significant effect on his vision, but left a cosmetic defect to the iris.

    A 32-year-old woman suffered nausea and dizziness following a minor rear end collision.  She treated for head and neck injuries with a chiropractor and physical therapist; the client was left with permanent dizziness although she did not lose significant time from work.

    A 20-year-old female was a passenger in her own vehicle driven with express permission by her friend.  The vehicle was hit head-on by a young driver with limited coverage of $25,000.  The young female suffered a fracture to the heel bone requiring surgery and an extensive rehabilitation.   Attorney Bloom was able to pursue and settle an underinsured claim for $50,000; and a direct claim against the driver’s own policy for another $20,000 towards a global settlement of $95,000

    A 25-year-old male was a passenger in a motor vehicle operated recklessly by a friend, causing a single car rollover collision.  The young man suffered soft-tissue injuries to his neck and back, a concussion and a knee injury resulting in arthroscopic surgery.  The claim was settled for the at-fault operators $100,000 policy limits.
